P1-M WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS SEIZED IN LA UNION

ARINGAY, La Union – At least P1-million worth of the banned hydrochloro methamphetamine or shabu and a grenade were seized from two suspected illegal drug pushers in a raid conducted by policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Barangay San Eugenio here over the weekend.

Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng, La Union police director, identified the suspects as Renante Raquedan, 37; and Francisco Caburao, Jr., 41, both residents of Barangay San Eugenio here.

Dumangeng said the suspects were arrested after policemen led by Sr. Inspector Daniel Banan, Aringay police chief, raided their respective houses based on search warrants issued by Judge Romeo Atillo, Jr. of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 31 in Agoo town.

Seized from Raquedan and Caburao were 180 grams of shabu wrapped in plastic bag, a grenade, water pipes, four bullets of 9MM, and several drug paraphernalia.

The suspects were temporarily detained at the Aringay municipal jail pending the formal filing of criminal charges against them for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. JUN ELIAS/northboundasia.com
