SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Firecrackers contained in 126 boxes worth Php 800,000.00 including pyrotechnics or fireworks materials were confiscated by the Office of the Public Safety, City Permits and Licenses, City Fire Department, and the City Police due to none compliance of permits during spot inspection at Barangay 3 here Monday afternoon.
Superintendent Bryant Demot, city police chief, said that the joint operatives seized the goods at Emade Enterprises storage room along Joaquin Street, owned by a certain Peter Chan Delfinado.
Demot, quoting Ms. Offelia Mendoza, the city permits and licensing officer, said that employees of the the business enterprise were already selling firecrackers without permit, and that that the warehouse did not comply with fire safety rules.
During the inspection, the authorities found several employees of the establishment had no working permit.
The assorted undocumented firecrackers and pyrotechnics materials are now in the custody of the San Fernando City police station.
Delfinado has been charged for violation of City Ordinance Nr 2009-08, that carries a penalty of Php 25,000 to Php 50,000 in fine. Erwin Beleo/Northbound Philippines News
