OVER 100 DEAD IN NIGERIA GAS PLANT EXPLOSION

MOSCOW — Over 100 people died as a result of a massive gas plant explosion in southeastern Nigeria, local media report said.

The explosion occurred in Nnewi, the second largest city in Nigeria’s Anambra State. According to Vanguard daily, over 100 people were killed in a fire resulting from the blast at the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant.

The explosion at the Inter Corp Oil Limited plant, a subsidiary of Chikason Group, occurred when a truck was discharging its contents at the facility, Vanguard said on Thursday.

The incident, which took place on Thursday morning, led to the death of both passers-by and customers who were getting a gas refill at the plant, the newspaper said. PNA/Sputnik/northboundasia.com
