DAGUPAN CITY — Oplan ‘One Time Big Bang’ of the police, or the operation for the implementation of the election gun ban, yielded another positive result in Dagupan on Jan. 17.

This happened at about 6:35 p.m. at Sitio Silunganin Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City, where intelligence operatives of Police Station l under the supervision of Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of police, arrested the person of one Joey de Guzman, 33, of Barangay San Juan, Agoo, La Union.

De Guzman, a construction worker, was caught in possession of one caliber 38 revolver without serial number with five live ammunition in its chamber.

Investigation showed that while policemen were conducting “Oplan Sita” operation, they chanced upon the suspect on board his Sym single motorcycle with Plate Number AA-11302 and went on to accost the suspect.

During verification of the documents of the motorcycle as well as the driver’s license of De Guzman, policemen saw in plain view a firearm tucked in his waist, prompting them to confront him.

However, he suddenly ran towards the basketball court of the place and went inside the house of one Alice Decena and Jayson Rosario.

The police officers gave chase and went to the house where the suspect but were prevented by the owners from entering. They, however, acceded to the request of lawmen to enter their house to arrest De Guzman and booked him for violation of the election gun ban.

The recovered hand gun was placed inside a black holster.

A case for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 and Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10015 is now being readied against the suspect. PNA / northboundasia.com
