CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – To intensify the anti-criminality campaign in the Ilocos Region, the regional director of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1), has ordered the mapping of homes of uniformed personnel so they can be easily located to respond to emergency situations even if they are off- duty.
Newly-installed Chief Superintendent Charlo Collado also ordered the conduct of surprise illegal drug tests to all police personnel, including those non-uniformed, as part of the intensified internal cleansing of the police organization in the region.
Collado, former head of the Intelligence Group at Camp Crame, was designated by his Philippine Military Academy classmate (“mistah,”) PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa, as PRO1 regional director last Feb 28.
“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the Chief, PNP Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa and the entire PNP for giving this chance to serve as one of his regional directors. I will my best to protect our organization from scalawags,” he said.
Collado and Dela Rosa were classmates of the Philippine Military Academy ‘Sinagtala’ Class 1986.
Supt. Cherry Fajardo, PRO1 information officer, said Collado asked the support and cooperation of local government officials and the utmost dedication of all members of PRO1 in the pursuit of quality service to the people of Region 1.
“I would like to solicit the utmost cooperation and dedication to serve and protect our constituents. I will do the best I can to guide and support you in all our undertaking. I will see to it that the internal cleansing of our personnel here in PRO1 will be conducted properly and we will focus our operations on various initiatives that are being implemented by the PNP,” said Collado who hails from Baguio City.
Fajardo said Collado replaced Chief Supt. Gregorio Pimentel who was designated as officer-in-charge of the Directorate for Intelligence. Pimentel, likewise, replaced Chief Supt. Nestor Quinsay who just retired from police service.
