BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizaya — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) here formed an Emergency Rescue Unit (ERU) to respond to various types of emergencies, especially vehicular accidents.
Randy Blanco, PRC chief, said an 18-man ERU is now on a standby mode at the PRC which can be tapped during accidents and other emergencies.
“ERU is composed of trained personnel who can properly handle rescue situations, especially caused by vehicular accidents and provide first aid, among others,” he said.
Blanco said ERU, formed late last year, is now doing its role in Bambang, Bayombong, Solano, Villaverde and Bagabag towns.
He said ERU is also linked with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Provincial Disaster Rsik Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), Department of Health (DOH), local government of Bayombong and the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
“We have already informed barangay officials about this and we hope that they will contact us during emergencies so that we can address or handle treatment of injuries and prevent their further complications,” Blanco said. PNA/northboundasia.com
