BAYOMBONG, Oct. 18 (PNA) — Strong winds from typhoon ‘Lando’ have ceased its might in the province but its tail-end of heavy rains have alerted disaster response officials and volunteers to be on alert of impending flashfloods.
More than a hundred evacuees are still held up in various evacuation centers due to swelling of rivers due to rains spawned by the typhoon.
“We are still monitoring the situation in low-lying and flood – prone areas so that we can have a regular situationers where we can act accordingly,” said Lita Tabudlo, provincial social welfare and development officer.
Volunteer rescue workers and barangay officials are in close watch over flood-prone areas in their respective barangays.
“If heavy rains still continue overnight, we will have more evacuees due to impending flashfloods,” said Bambang town councilor Bobet Ngabbu. (Ben Moses Ebreo/PNA)
