BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — Incumbent Representative Carlos Padilla and governor Ruth Padilla on Thursday filed their gubernatorial and congressional bid, respectively, at the Commission on Elections(COMELEC) here in preparation for the 2016 polls.
Representative Carlos Padilla, now in his last term opted to step down as gubernatorial bet while governor Ruth Padilla, still in her first term will run for congressional post with incumbent vice governor Lambert Galima,Jr. who will be seeking for his reelection bid under the Nationalist Party (NP).
The Padilla couple and Galima will be pitting their political might against former governor Luisa Cuaresma, vice governor Jose Gambito and incumbent board member Primo Percival Marcos in the congressional, gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial posts, respectively, under the United Nationalist Alliance(UNA) party.
Before the 2013 elections, the NP and UNA candidates were unitied under their local formed political party “Abante Nueva Vizcaya”.
The party, however, suffered a split during the 2013 elections due to political differences among the top provincial leaders. (PNA)
