SAN FERNANDO CITY, LA UNION– A dual separate sting operations launched by narcotics agents of the Ilocos regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency resulted in the arrest of two drug group members in La Union and Pangasinan last March 15.
In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo C. Cacdac, Jr., the arrested drug group member in La Union was identified as 38- year old Gaem Difuntorum, a resident of Barangay San Agustin Sur, Agoo town. Law enforcers confiscated 3 sachets of the banned metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, buy- bust cash money and impounded the tricycle used by the suspect in transporting the illegal drugs. Gaem was also known as Jay Rodriguez and had been reported several times to the police because of his illegal drug activities in Agoo and nearby municipalities.
PDEA RO1 Regional Director Adrian G. Alvarino also confirmed that the other buy- bust operation in Pangasinan led to the arrest of 35- year old Arnold Melecio Caasi of Dagupan City, who was arrested while selling a sachet of shabu to a PDEA Agent who posed as a buyer.
Difonturum and Caasi are facing charges of violating section 5 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 , which carries a penaty of life imprisonment and imposes a fine of P500,000-P10-M. On the other hand, “Possession of Illegal Drugs” under Section 11 is an added charge against Difutorum as he was found to be in possession of illegal drugs. northboundasia.com
