MALASIQUI, Pangasinan — The 13th most wanted person in the priority wanted list under “Oplan Lambat Sibat” in Malasiqui town was arrested following firefight with lawmen serving a warrant of arrest against him in Barangay Songcoy, Calasiao last Wednesday, according to the police.
Supt. Armando Muena, Malasiqui chief of police, said the suspect Regino San Diego, wanted for frustrated homicide, opened fire on policemen as he tried to escape during the serving of the warrant of arrest and was shot by lawmen in the buttock.
The warrant was issued by Judge Hermogenes Fernandez, presiding judge of regional trial court branch 56 in San Carlos on January 9, 2012.
“He fired at the policemen serving the warrant of arrest, prompting our officers to retaliate and hit the suspect in his buttock,” said Muena.
The suspect was brought first to the hospital before he was detained.
Muena said additional charges such as assault upon agents of person in authority, resisting arrest and illegal possession of firearm and ammunitions were filed against the suspect.
“We are investigating the suspect as he has a gun which might have been used in other crimes,” said Muena.
The operation, he said, was coordinated with the Calasiao police station.
San Diego was the third wanted person arrested by the Malasiqui police. PNA
