NFA assures enough rice supply in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The National Food Authority (NFA) of Cagayan has assured the public that there is enough supply of rice in the province despite the devastation caused by super typhoon Lawin last month.

NFA Emmanuel Villanueva provincial director, on Thursday said they have 20,000 bags of imported rice that arrived this week to ensure more rice supply in the province.

Villanueva also said that they are expecting an additional 25,000 bags of imported rice by January next year.

“We always assure the public they have enough cheaper supply of rice. We are also ready to augment rice requirement even during calamities, ” he said.

Villanueva also said that they continue to advise the public to be extra vigilant as well as to patronize local NFA rice.

He said that they also conducted surprise inspection in various NFA rice retailers and commercial dealers here.

“This is why we expanded our NFA rice outlets for our regular consumers in order to stabilize the increasing prices of commercial rice in market,” he added. PNA-northboundasia.com
