DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte —- Newly-elected officials of this town took their oath of office today at the Dingras Civic Center, witnessed by families, supporters and other guests including representatives from various government and non-government organizations.
Led by re-elected Mayor Erdio Valenzuela, the male-dominated new set of town officials here vowed for committed public service above self for the next three years.
In his inspirational speech, Provincial Administrator Wendell Chua who represented Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos expressed hope that as they pledge for committed public service in accordance with their respective oath of office, this will translate into a better life for the people of Dingras.
“You should lead by example because by leading by example, you will earn the respect of your constituents and follow your authority to achieve the vision of Dingras for peace and prosperity,” Chua said, citing devotion to public office is a public thrust.
Inducted by Atty. Robert Garcia, Assistant Provincial Prosecutor, the newly-elected officials took their oath separately on Thursday afternoon, accompanied by immediate family members at the municipal hall stage adorned with fresh flowers.
After the oath-taking ceremony, three-termer Sangguniang Bayan members Jose Mari Genaro Albano and Joey Apostol were also given plaque of recognition.
Teachers and students of Dingras town also entertained the crowd with traditional folk songs and dances during the event. PNA/northboundasia.com
