MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will form a national task force who will focus on the problem of drugs in the country.
This was the statement made by new NBI Director Dante Gierran who formally assumed office on Friday.
According to Gierran, the National Task Force on Drug Abuse will be composed of select operatives of the NBI.
Gierran said that this task force is separate from the NBI’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Division, whose frequent center of operations is Metro Manila.
He added that he will immediately order the legal division of the NBI to formalize the creation of the task force.
Gierran stressed that the national task force against illegal drugs is in response to the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to eliminate the problem of illegal drugs and destroy the syndicates behind it. PNA / northboundasia.com
