SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, the PDP-Laban presidential candidate, said here that his attitude of cursing whenever he talks is but normal and not due to anger.
“Nagmumura ako, pero hindi ibig sabihin mainit ang ulo ko. Yong pagmumura ko pangkaraniwan lang yan. (I say bad words, but it does not mean I’m angry. My cursing is just normal,” Duterte said during his visit here Tuesday.
Duterte was criticized for cursing Pope Francis when the pontiff visited the Philippines last year. The Mayor’s cuss words came out after he was trapped in traffic in Metro Manila.
In an interview at the Oasis Country Resort here before his meeting with the Rotary Club of San Fernando, Duterte cursed and slammed his rival, Liberal party presidential bet Mar Roxas, for allegedly fooling the people by saying that he was paying for the jet planes he (Roxas) uses in his campaign sorties.
“Nagbabayad ako (I pay for the plane). I will not criticize him (Mar) if I do not do it. Sabihin ko kay (I say to) Mar, pu?xy ix@ mo!, hindi nagbabayad yan maski piso, (he is not paying even a peso). Tax exempt lahat yong eroplanong ginagamit niya (all the planes he using are tax exempt). Yang mga eroplano kay (the planes are owned by) Eric Guttierez (a mining businessman supporter of Roxas from Mindanao).
Duterte said he is not a hot-headed person unlike Mar who allegedly got the irked of government employees when he was still a member of the Cabinet as Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
“Mainit ang ulo, (hot headed) you should ask the employees of the government that he (Mar) visited. Hindi ako ang señorito na asta, siya. (I’m not acting like señorito, he is),” Duterte said.
Duterte also lambasted Roxas for allegedly not addressing the criminality and illegal drug problems in the country during his tenure as DILG chief. JUN ELIAS and ERWIN BELEO /northboundasia.com
