Motorbike-truck collision kills two

NAGUILIAN, La Union – Two men were killed when the motorcycle they were riding collided head on with a delivery truck along the Naguilian-Baguio road in Barangay Dallipaoen, Naguilian, La Union Wednesday night.

Chief Inspector Ismael Gauna, Naguilian police chief, identified the fatalities as Mark Kevin Flores, 22, driver of the motorcycle with
plate number AA 428020, and his passenger Isagani Erenio, 36, both residents of Barangay Ballay, Naguilian town.

Gauna said that the victim was driving his motorcycle at full speed towards the east direction, overtook a passenger bus and crashed into an incoming Isuzu container truck (RLN 523) driven by Ferdinand La Fuente, 24, of of San Juan town.

“The motorcycle riders were thrown out of their motorcycle and were overrun by the bus they overtook while they were sprawled on the ground,” Gauna said.

Rogelio Aberin, 61, the bus driver claimed he did not see the victims because it was dark. The incident happened at around 7:30 p.m.

The victims were brought to the Naguilian District Hospital but were declared dead upon arrival by hospital authorities.

The driver of the truck and the driver of the passenger bus are now in the custody of Naguilian police station for further questioning . JUN ELIAS AND ERWIN BELEO / northboundasia.com
