DAGUPAN CITY — Mayor Belen Fernandez said that the city of Dagupan is open to all investors, especially now that finally it has a new Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and a Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance.
Speaking during the soft-opening of a new MC Donald’s Store in Barangay Tapuac here on June 22, Fernandez reiterated that Dagupan is a business-friendly city and everybody can come and open his or her businesses.
This was the 4th MC Donald’s franchise in Dagupan City owned by Ms. Carol Cua. Her first MC Donald’s store was set up some 20 years ago at the CSI Market Square.
In an interview, Fernandez said the Manila-based Double Dragon Corporation is now putting up a mall in Barangay Mayombo while construction of a high-end subdivision by Sta. Lucia is now going on in Barangay Bolosan.
On the other hand, she said, Supermart Inc. (SM) has already visited the City Planning and Development Office and the city is just only waiting for SM’s letter of intent to put up its project in Dagupan.
She said an investment development board headed by Rudy Ramos was created where all investors can go if they want to fasttrack the opening of their respective businesses.
The mayor assured that investors will not pay anything whatsoever as her office will not tolerate graft and corruption.
Under the new approved CLUP, the new growth areas in the city are the Lucao-Pantal corridors, the Bonuan eco-tourism zone and the Caranglaan-Tebeng area.
Mayor Fernandez said that to date, Dagupan has been adjudged 19th among most competitive cities today, from 44th before she took over the reins of the city government in 2013, and even 76th more than a decade ago.
“With the CLUP and the new Zoning Law, we aim to be at least within the top 10 list of cities all over the country,” said Fernandez.
Dagupan was recently picked as one of the 10 New Wave Cities in the country . PNA/northboundasia.com
