Mayor Domogan defends job order employees of Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY –- Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan on Wednesday, August 3 brushed away apprehensions about “endo” and job order employees of the local government unit (LGU).

Citing the pronouncements of President Rodrigo Duterte discouraging the business sector and concerned stakeholders not to implement contractualization in their labor force, Domogan said the Job Order employees of the Baguio City government are seasonal.

Domogan explained that these employees are only hired for two to three months during the summer season and for about a month during the Christmas season.

Domogan added there are no contractual employees hired on a six-month contract in any department of the Baguio City LGU.

“Saan nga continuous ti trabahoda dagitada (their jobs are not continuous), some of them come and go.”

Domogan further explained that the city government does not have contractual employees who are hired for six months, what the city have are job order employees who are hired to a maximum of three months.

“With the private sector, the nature of the job is permanent but they employ contractuals for that and that is illegal,” Domogan explained.

“More often than not, contractual employees are not rehired after six months which is supposed to be the end of the employee’s probation period prior to his permanency,” he added.

The mayor reiterated that the city government does not have contractual employees. PNA/
