CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — The local chief executive of Isabela has declared May 11, 2017 as a special non-working holiday in the province in commemoration of the 161st foundation anniversary.
Governor Faustino G. Dy III signed Executive Order No. 2017 – 23 which declares May 11, 2017 as holiday in Isabela.
In Dy’s order, he said it was the policy of the State to ensure that Filipino heritage and culture were cultivated, promoted and sustained.
“The Province of Isabela has a well-established annual tradition of celebrating the foundation anniversary of the province and encouraging all government employees in the province and members of the private sector to participate in or witness the many cultural and trade activities conducted during the Festival,” Dy said in his order.
He said Presidential Proclamation 108 issued by President Joseph Ejercito Estrada on 10 May 1999 declared May 11th of every year a Special Day in the province of Isabela to give the people full opportunity to celebrate the milestone in their history.
Dy said for 2017, the provincial government of Isabela is commemorating the event by hosting a Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday at the Cathedral of Saint Michael and various exciting events and activities would follow, culminating with the Queen Isabela 2017 grand coronation night on May 11th at the Queen Isabela Park.
