MANILA — The Marcos family will be having a private gathering at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (LNMB) in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos on Monday (Sept. 11).
Only family members and close friends will be allowed in the portion of the LNMB where the former president is buried.
“The family requested that the gathering (in honor of the 100th birth anniversary of former President Marcos) be private,” said AFP public affairs office chief, Col. Edgard Arevalo, in Filipino on Friday.
Security preparations for the event will be handled by the Philippine Army which has custody of the 103.3435-hectare facility.
Arevalo said it is the prerogative of the Marcos family on whom they want to invite.
Marcos’ remains, interred at the LNMB last Nov. 18, 2016 , is located at the 5,000 square-meter Presidential Section.
He was allotted a 100 square-meter plot in the said facility. Three Philippine presidents are buried at the heroes’ cemetery — Carlos P. Garcia, Diosdado Macapagal and Elpidio Quirino. The Presidential Section still has room for 46 more. PNA-northboundasia.com
