Malaysian police to deport Australian journalists, no charges pressed

SYDNEY — Two Australian journalists who were arrested after approaching Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on Saturday will not face charges, with Malaysian police instead deciding to deport them, it was announced on Tuesday.

Linton Besser, 39, and Louie Eroglu, 51, journalists with the Australian Broadcasting Corp. (ABC), were questioned and held for six hours by police before being released on bail early on Sunday.

They were investigated on the grounds of allegedly obstructing a public servant in the discharge of his public functions. PNA/Kyodo/northboundasia.com
