Magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolts Zambales

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — A magnitude-5.5 earthquake jolted the province of Zambales on Wednesday according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) .

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 10:27 p.m. with its epicenter traced twelve kilometers northeast of San Marcelino, Zambales.

Phivolcs said the temblor, which was tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of 78 kilometers.
