CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — The National Irrigation Administration – Magat River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-MRIIS) started to release its excess stored water due to continuous rains last night in its watershed areas.
NIA– MARIIS operations manager Engr. Wilfredo Gloria said the water elevation of Magat Dam as of 7a.m. today reached to 193.19 meters and has registered an inflow of 2, 292 cubic meters per second while its outflow is 562 cubic meters per second.
Gloria said at least one spillway gate is open with a one meter high.
He advised residents near the Magat River to take extra caution to prevent untoward incident caused by water river rise.
Last night, Isabela experienced continuous rains that resulted in water level in rivers to rise including the watershed areas of Magat Dam.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is closely monitoring the effect of continuous rains to the residents near the rivers.
The PDRRMC has monitored that there are already unpassable overflow bridges like the Alicaocao overflow bridge in Cauayan, Sto. Tomas overflow bridge connecting to Cabagan town and Baculod Bridge in the City of Ilagan.
The PDRRMC advised the residents in low lying areas to be alert and evacuate early to prevent incidents caused by floods. PNA-northboundasia.com
