LTFRB to grill bus driver involved in counter flow incident

MANILA — A bus driver was issued with a show-cause order on Wednesday after caught counter flowing in a close-circuit television (CCTV) footage along Regalado highway.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said that a Corimba Express Bus with plate number TXX 629 was involved in the counter flow incident which took place last April 22 (Friday).

Initial reports show that the bus hit five concrete barriers while counterflowing which resulted in injury to some of its passengers.

Injured passengers were immediately attended to by Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety.

At present, the Board has yet to identify the name of the driver responsible for counterflowing.

LTFRB board member Atty. Ariel Inton said that the Board would soon set a hearing on the incident.

Inton earlier said that the Board was reviewing the possibility of raising the penalty of imprisonment and the amount of bail for provisional liberty of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers involved in mishaps that lead to the injury and death of passengers.

He is also looking into the possibility of imposing a three-strike rule wherein a PUV driver involved in a hit-and-run incident will not be allowed to post bail for the third occasion.

Operator and drivers were meanwhile urged to make it a point to prioritize the safety of their passengers. PNA/ northboundasia.com
