LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The lone representative of the municipality of Alcala was crowned the Limgas na Pangasinan (Ms. Pangasinan) 2016 when she impressed the judges with her beauty and wit during the beauty pageant held at the Capitol Plaza on the night of April 30.
Karissa Anne Lopez, a 19-year-old beauty, bested the other candidates in the final question-and-answer segment of the pageant, aside from winning the Best in Gown Award.
Asked how she can help maintain and achieve the advocacy of the Governor for Pangasinan to be number 1 province in the country, Ms. Lopez said that first, she will use the social media to promote the province’s tourism.
“Second, by helping and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of Pangasinan; third, by educating the people of Pangasinan on how to preserve, maintain, and take care of our natural resources that give us not only a better place to live but a source of income as well, and lastly, by encouraging possible investors to invest in our province in order to have seaport, airport that can make Pangasinan number one,” she said.
First runner-up in the pageant was Danielle Joie Magno of Bayambang; followed by Perla Peabody of Villasis, Christine Joy Picardal of Sison, and Diana Rose Untalan of Sta. Barbara.
Judges were Rodel Salvador, Angeli Baraca, Atty. Nad Bronse, Prof. Jose Wendell Capili, director Jeffrey Jeturian, actor Laurence Mossman, and Dr. Maricris Ubalde.
This year’s cash prizes were Php100,000 for the Limgas na Pangasinan; Php70,000 for the first runner-up; Php50,000 for the second runner-up; Php30,000 for the third runner- up; and Php20,000 for the fourth runner-up.
Minor awards given were Smart Texters’ Choice (Vanessa Baraquio), Smart People’s Choice (Peabody), Ms. Creamsilk (Magno), Ms. Social Media (Magno), Darling of the Press (Magno), Ms. Photogenic (Untalan), Best in Festival Costume (Baraquio), Ms. Friendship (Keesha Maye Abad), Ms. Personality (Tristan Khyle Torio), Best in Talent (Riza Diego), and Best in Swimsuit (Magno).
Limgas na Pangasinan is the biggest celebration of Pangasinan women’s beauty and intelligence. It is a major activity of the province’s most-anticipated summer events, namely Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Day) and Pista’y Dayat (Sea Festival). PNA/northboundasia.com
