CEBU CITY — Cebu-based Leylam FC once again competes overseas as the football club sees action in the Saigon 7s International Football Tournament in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on Nov. 7 and 8.
Leylam FC will be up against amateur football clubs from different parts of the world in the two-day seven-a-side tournament.
“I don’t know about our chances because we have no idea of our competition,” Leylam FC head coach Oliver Colina said.
Colina said the club has been training for the competition but he will miss the trip because of a coaching course in Manila.
The Leylam FC team is composed of Virgilio Manayon, Ranulfo Colina, Raffy Lloerente, Harris Segovia, Ugur Tasci, Gem Tasci, Evren Tasci, Baris Tasci, Michael Pacite, Rene Sanchez, Abelardo Solinas and Edmar Galacio.
Leylam FC is currently the best men’s open squad in Cebu after winning this year’s title in the Aboitiz Football Cup, 1-0, over former champion Erco-BRO GAU.
Leylam FC is also the country’s best five-a-side team after winning the national championships of The World Football Fives (F5WC).
Leylam FC was the Philippines representative for the F5WC world championships in Dubai.
However, Leylam FC had an early exit losing to Germany and Estonia but turned a lot of heads with an upset win over Uruguay. PNA
