SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Representative Leni Robredo, Liberal Party vice- presidential standard bearer, is now on a sortie in Northern Luzon, a known bailiwick of Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., one of her rivals in the vice- presidential race.
Robredo met yesterday (November 20, 2015) with the Ortega clan here along with barangay officials and women’s group.
“Hindi naman tayo namimili ng lugar, lahat ng probinsiya pupuntahan natin. Hindi naman pikit mata tayo sa sitwasyon na alam natin malakas talaga dito si Sen. Bongbong Marcos.” (We don’t choose places, we will go to all the provinces. We are aware that Sen. “Bongbong” Marcos is strong here (in Northern Luzon),” Robredo said.
A day before, Robredo and LP presidential bet Mar Roxas were in Baguio City and met with LP leaders of the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Robredo said that although Northern Luzon is considered a Marcos country, she needed, she said, to visit the Ilocos provinces to introduce herself to the people and offer her services. After all, it is the people who decide in the election, she said.
”I have to work double-time because the battle has began.I have to do the sacrifice,” Robredo said in Tagalog.
Robredo was welcomed by Representative Victor Ortega and wife Mary Jane who is running for city mayor as LP bet, including City Mayor Pablo Ortega, the LP congressional candidate in the First District. Also present in the meeting was Pepe Ortega, the LP vice- mayoralty candidate, and city officials. JUN ELIAS/NorthboundPH
