BACNOTAN, La Union – The police here have arrested in an entrapment operation a 39-year-old tricycle driver who was allegedly selling a 9-mm Luger machine pistol and several bullets valued at P38,000.00 at Barangay Cabaraoan last Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Reynaldo Soria, acting municipal police chief, identified the suspect as Bienvenido P. Ulpindo, Jr., also known as “Dolphy”, a resident of Barangay Sapilang this town.
Also seized from Ulpindo were one long magazine loaded with five live ammunition and silencer of the said firearm.
The police did not disclose the identity of the buyer or buyers of Ulpindo’s contraband goods.
The suspect, now detained at the Bacnotan police station, will be facing court charges for violation of R.A. 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. His tricycle, a public transportation vehicle with plate number QO 9596 and body number 765, is also impounded at the police station. WILLIAM GARCIA and ERWIN BELEO/Northbound Philippines News
