SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union- Some of the 82 illegal drugs-affected persons underwent a 3-day rehabilitation treatment program during the launching of “Lakas ng Pagbabago” Community of Drug Recovery Champions booth camp held at South Central Elementary School, Barangay. Tanqui here.
The activity, which ended Sunday, was in line with the local police’s support of the Duterte administration’s all-out war program against illegal drugs. The funding of the program was provided by the city government under City Mayor Hermenegildo Dong Gualberto and the approval of Dept. of Interior and Local Government city officer Lily Ann Colisao.
It was a joint project of the City Anti-Drugs Abuse Council and Gawad Kalinga in tandem with members of Lakas ng Pagbabago Caretakers of the city, according to City Police Station chief Supt. Bryant Demot.
“This is to strengthen a person to give chance for love and better change of life on illegal drug activity,” Demot said.
The lecturers included Benjie Roque, Gawad Kalinga consultant, a former community organizer, and GK colleagues.
The participants were divided into eight teams: Lion; OPM; Rose; Parokya ni Chis; Gayyem 70’s; Team Lakay; 90’s; and 80’s.
All were given teamwork conversation regarding their life and teamwork games such as hulahop, blow my ball, pipe race, blocks (langit lupa), sack race, caterpillar, shoot the ball, spider web, blindfold obstacle race, and mud crawl as the final game.
The activity was also coordinated by the Bomb Squad K9 , Regional Public Safety Battalion, Philippine Coast Guard, City Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, and La Union Provincial Public Safety Company, for area safety security. Erwin Beleo/northboundasia.com
