La Union house thieves kill seaman

SAN JUAN, La Union, Aug 14 – Five bonnet-wearing armed men forcibly entered the house of a 33-year old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Barangay Duplas here Sunday night, carted away money and valuables then gunned down the man.
 
Senior Inspector Juanito Buaron, the town’s police chief, identified the fatality as Edgar Ursua, a seaman and resident of the said place.
 
Initial investigation showed that Ursua, together with his wife and five housemates were about to go to bed when armed men barged into their house.
 
The suspects repeatedly beat the OFW with a shotgun while they covered with packaging tapes the faces of his wife and the helpers.
 
The valuables taken by the suspects include  cellphones and a 100 US dollar bill.
 
It was learned that the men herded the victims outside their house, where they shot Ursua with the shotgun then fled onboard motorcycles. 
 
Personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered two pieces of empty shotgun cartridges in the area .
 
Buaron said they are still conducting manhunt operation against the suspects and coordinated with several money changers that may lead to the identities and arrest of the armed men. NPN-northboundasia.com
