SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – A leader of a gun-for-hire syndicate has been sentenced to life imprisonment after he was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of killing a security guard.
Judge Asuncion Fikingas-Mandia of the Regional Trial Court Branch 29 here also ordered Lorenzo Mendoza, leader of the Mendoza gun-for-hire group, to pay the heirs of his victim, Mark Bryan Domine, exemplary damages of P100,000, civil indemnity of P100,000, moral damages of P100,000 and almost P3-million for loss of unearned income.
Fikingas-Mandia said all monetary awards for damages shall earn interest at the legal rate of six-percent per annum from the date of finality of the decision.
Records showed that on February 28, 2015, at about 6:20 pm, Domine and his wife were infront of the Go Eat Restaurant when the suspect approached them and repeatedly shot the victim on the different part of his body and head that resulted to his death.
Mendoza was arrested after former San Fernando City police Superintendent Julius Suriben ordered an intensive investigation and follow- up operations of the incident. JUN ELIAS/Northbound Philippines News
