La Union Cops Nab Trike Driver for Illegal Drugs Trade


ROSARIO, La Union – Joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional office and town policemen arrested a tricycle driver in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Subusub here last Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Bernabe Oribello, Rosario’s chief of police, identified the suspect as Ramil D. Esquivel, 44, a resident of Barangay Poblacion West, Rosario.

Seized from Esquivel were 6 sachets containing the banned ampethamine hydrocloride or shabu, 2 sachets of dried marijuana leaves, a cell-phone, buy- bust money of unknown, and a motorcycle bearing plate QS-7919 with a body number 3F 044 used by the suspect in transporting the goods.

Oribello said the suspect was named in the watch list ‘Oplan Tokhang’ but didn’t surrender to the authorities.

The suspect and the seized contrabands and the vehicle were brought to municipal police station for documentation and proper filing of charges against Esquivel for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Erwin Beleo/
