Japanese arrested for shabu possession in Mactan-Cebu airport

MANILA — A Japanese man was arrested at the departure checkpoint area of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport for alleged possession of shabu.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspect as Shinji Mori, 38, a race car driver and resident of Osaka, Japan.

Cacdac said Mori was arrested by combined elements of the PDEA, Office of Transportation Security (OTS) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) during a security check inspection in Mactan-Cebu International Airport on Monday.

Seized from Mori were one plastic sachet of shabu and a deformed glass tube used as improvised tooter wrapped with tissue paper.

Mori is facing charges for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect is temporarily detained at the Lapu-Lapu City police office. PNA
