JAKARTA ATTACKS DEATH TOLL RISES

JAKARTA — The death toll from Thursday’s terror attacks in Jakarta increased to eight after an office worker from the Indonesian branch of Bangkok Bank died late Saturday from gunshot wounds, police said Sunday.

Jakarta Police Spokesman Muhammad Iqbal said Rais Karna, 37, had immediately rushed to the scene, located only a few hundred meters from his office, after hearing the first explosion, to see what had happened.

“He was shot in the head by one of the perpetrators,” Iqbal said. PNA/Kyodo / northboundasia.com
