CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) will train the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) to strengthen their capability in first aid and rescue operations as part of disaster preparedness next year.
PDRRM officer Edmond Guzman said his office through the PDRRMC has allotted PHP5 million for disaster preparedness trainings of all barangays in the province to make them capable rescuers as first responders in times of calamities.
Guzman said his office plans to prioritize the conduct of training in the four coastal towns of Isabela which are the entry points of typhoons.
“The PDRRMO is set to conduct trainings to strengthen the capabilities of BDRRMCs in first aid and rescue operations,” Guzman said.
He said the training will be conducted by trained personnel of PDRRMO in clustered barangays to hasten the transfer of knowledge on first aid and rescue operations.
Liga ng Mga Barangay Provincial Federation president Roher Ballad welcomed the proposed training as he said that the barangay officials will surely participate in the said training.
He said the barangay officials will also allot counterpart funds in the conduct of training, saying such training is essential especially barangay officials are the first responders in times of calamities.
The training for BDRRMCs is expected to be implemented in the first quarter next year. PNA-northboundasia.com
