ECHAGUE, Isabela — The province of Isabela has experienced a drop in temperature after the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) here on Monday registered 17 degrees Celsius in temperature.
Ramil Tuppil, PAGASA weather forecaster based in Echague, said the drop in temperature in the province and the whole of Cagayan Valley was due to the northeast monsoon coming from the Pacific Ocean.
He said the cool weather will be experienced until next week because of the northeast monsoon that will bring light to moderate rains.
He said after the northeast monsoon, there will be a transition to southeast monsoon from April to May.
“When southwest monsoon strikes, a hot weather will occur while the northeast monsoon is a cool weather,” Tuppil explained.
Baguio City and other parts of the Cordillera region have registered 9.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, health officials in Isabela advised Isabelinos to brace for the effect of the northeast monsoon or cool weather as it may bring respiratory diseases especially to children and also adults. PNA-northboundasia.com
