SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – A communication and computer repair shop owner and his helper were wounded when a lone gunman shot them at close range in front of his establishment in Purok I, Sevilla Center, Friday night.
Sr. Inspector Maila Alog identified one of the victims as Lal Mirchandani, 46, an Indian national who owns the SMK Computer Sales and Services, of Catbangen village here. He sustained four gunshot wounds in the chest and arms and is now recuperating at the Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center.
Mirchandani’s helper, Roger Calderon, 46, of Banbanay Village, San Juan town suffered a gunshot wound in his lower abdomen and was being treated at the same hospital.
Investigations showed that Mirchandani and Calderon including a technician, Richard Peralta, were about to close the shop at 7:30 PM due to an electrical power interruption as a result of heavy rains and thunderstorms when the gunman approached and began shooting at the victims.
With Mirchandani and Calderon sprawled on the ground, Peralta and other shop employees chased the gun-wielder who got on a parked white Fortuner car and sped away.
A CCTV footage showed the vehicle’s Conduction Sticker (ZH 5950 SUV),which is a temporary plate number and would be helpful in identifying the suspect.
“We are coordinating with Toyota (car dealer) so it can provide us the identity of the owner or purchaser of the gate- away car,” Alog said.
It was learned that Conduction Sticker Number of the said vehicle was disseminated to other police stations.
