Iluko writers to hold 3rd nat’l convention in Isabela

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — Iluko writers from here and abroad will be convening early next month to revitalize their organization and update their members on the recent trends in Iluko writing.

Rheo Domingo, chapter president of the Timpuyog dagiti Mannurat iti Iluko iti Filipinas, INc.(TMFI) said they had partnered with TMI Global for the holding of the International Literary Convention on April 8-10 at Villa Florenda Family Resort and Hotel in barangay Del PIlar, Cabatuan town in Isabela province.

“This event is expected to draw more than 100 participants composed of students, teachers and Iluko writers here and abroad,” he said.

The convention will carry the theme: “Panangtaginayon kadagiti pagulidan a kultura ken kannawidan ni Ilokano”(Preservation of the culture and traditions of the Ilocanos worthy of emulation).

Domingo said the literary conference will be using multi-lingual approach to enhance the writing skills of Iluko writers, especially the young in the different genres like essay, short story, poetry, feature articles and news and update participants on the development of Iluko orthography and grammar including nuances of the language.

Last year, the TMFI convention was held in Nueva Vizcaya, particularly at the Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park in barangay San Luis in Diadi town. PNA/northboundasia.com
