Ilocos region cops all set for peaceful observance of ‘Undas’

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union –- The Ilocos regional police has directed all units under its command to intensify their operations and increase their vigilance to ensure public safety before, during and after the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Ilocos Police director, Chief Supt. Gregorio Pimentel also ordered the deployment of police personnel from the regional and provincial headquarters to the police stations to support route security, traffic management and preventive patrol operations from October 29 to November 2.

“We need to double our security efforts and provide maximum deployment of our personnel to make sure that the various threat groups, local terrorists and criminal gangs cannot take advantage of the situation in carrying out their illegal activities,” said Pimentel.

He added that as in previous years, they will tap the support of other government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, volunteer groups and local force multipliers in providing maximum security coverage and public safety services to include motorist assistance along major highways and traffic management along routes leading to cemeteries.

Moreover, Pimentel has designated commissioned police officers as inspectors and supervisors who will closely monitor and oversee the overall conduct of the operations in every province, in coordination with the respective provincial directors.

Pimentel also assured that continuous coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways, local governments and other stakeholders is being conducted to ensure the successful implementation of “Oplan Kaluluwa 2016”.

He also advised the public to cooperate with the authorities and report immediately any suspicious act they observe. PNA-northboundasia.com
