CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union – Police operatives along with personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency here conducted successive search warrants and manhunt operations throughout the province since Thursday and arrested 20 gang leaders and members involved in illegal
drugs, shooting incidents and various offenses.
Senior Supt. Angelito Dumangeng, La Union police director, together with the regional offices of CIDG , RIU, HPG and PDEA have implemented 23 search warrants and two arrest warrants obtained from Pangasinan and La Union courts.
The joint operations resulted in the seizure of five loose firearms, various ammunition, a rocket grenade launcher, 104 sachets of the banned methamnetamine hydrocholoride or shabu, one lunchbox of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, 31 sachets of marijuana and several drug paraphernalia.
The arrested gang leaders and members included the top drug personality of Bauang, top 5 of Agoo, top 4 of City of San Fernando, top 2 of Caba and top 3 of Sto Tomas. Others were listed as drug personalities of San Juan, Rosario and Aringay.
Chief Supt Ericson Velasquez, Regional Police Director, lauded the efforts of La Union police for initiating the operations against illegal drugs, loose firearms and wanted persons.
He urged policemen to sustain their aggressiveness in the campaign against criminality through SOP “Lambat Sibat” to ensure the conduct of a safe and secure election. JUN ELIAS/northboundasia.com
