CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Philippine National Police in Region 1 is now checking the identities of several men seen in viral video firing high-powered guns during the holiday celebration.
Superintendent Marlon Paeste, Ilocos regional police information officer, said all the four police provincial offices were ordered by
Chief Supt. Ericson Velasquez, Region 1 police director, to ascertain the identities and addresses of the Ilocano-speaking men.
“The four provincial directors were tasked to establish the identities of said persons, if they were from our area of responsibility. They will validate information and submit reports as soon as possible,” Paeste said.
Paeste said that intelligence officers were tapped to look into the identities of the men in coordination with local officials.
“ If we found out that there are policemen involved in firing guns, criminal and administrative charges will be filed against them,”Paeste said.
He said that criminal case would be on alarm and scandal, while the administrative charge is for grave misconduct which is punishable by dismissal from the service. Jun Elias and Vic Alhambra,Jr./northboundasia.com
