With Memorandum Circular No. 2018-01 released on July 10, 2018 by the Philippine Statistics Authority, departments, bureaus, offices, and instrumentalities of the government including government-controlled corporations, state universities and colleges, local government units and the private sectors are enjoined to participate in the series of activities that will be conducted national or locally.
“The proposed activities are aimed to further promote, enhance, and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society, ” PSA-1Supervising Statistical Specialist Niño E. Tuazon said.
“It is also intended to elicit cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country,” Tuazon added.
In Region 1, a promotional activity through the Tongtongan iti Tangatang radio program of the Philippine Information Agency and DZAG Radyo Pilipinas is slated on September 25.
On October 4, the opening ceremony to be hosted by the regional office of the Department of Tourism will gather participants from the different partner agencies.
A statistics exhibit featuring various programs of the agencies in relation to stats will also run from October 4 to 12.
Moreover, a regional jingle-singing, essay-writing, poster-slogan-making and oratorical contests for secondary to college levels and statistics quiz bee will be conducted on October 17.
The celebration will also include a data dissemination forum and launching of the regional statistics development program (RSDP) 2018-2023.
The closing ceremony will be held on October 29 wherein the search for the Best 29th NSM province implementer will acknowledge the outstanding contributions and continued involvement of partners in the conduct of the NSM activities.
Final submissions on the search are expected to be in by October 19.
In 2017, La Union bagged the best NSM implementer while Pangasinan was declared the Hall of Fame Awardee for consecutively receiving the recognition for three years.
The RSC-1 members signified their support to the proposed activities during the 3rd quarter meeting, as they approved Resolution No. 10 Series of 2018 held at the Department of Agriculture (DA) field office last August 17.
The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statistics Towards Sustainable Tourism Development.”
At the national level, other activities lined-up are the following: Search for Best Statistical Activity Conducted by a Government and Private Organization, Best Youth Group Advocate for Statistics, Best Region and Best LGU.
