LAOAG CITY — Some parts of Ilocos Norte remain without power as of Wednesday, the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative reported.
Noel Andres, Information Education and Communication Officer of INEC reported the backbone area covering Ilocos Norte’s commercial district or urban villages is now almost hundred percent restored while the lateral area covering the towns of Adams, Badoc and Pinili is barely 50 percent restored.
“Our linemen is working double time to restore power but for now, we can’t guarantee yet how many days more before our current will be back to normal operation in our lateral areas,” said Andres.
At the height of typhoon ‘Lawin’ which pounded Ilocos Norte with its strongest signal on the evening of Oct. 19, the INEC management decided to shut down power source to secure consumers from further damage to life and property.
Efforts to fully restore power in the entire province is continuous as there were primary electric poles toppled and uprooted trees caused by strong winds. PNA-northboundasia.com
