LAOAG CITY — Members of the Ilocos Norte police force have increased police visibility at the Laoag International Airport Friday as President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to meet with local officials here.
Provincial Director Jose Melencio Nartatez confirmed the presidential chopper will have a stop over at the Laoag Airport anytime this afternoon after the president’s visit to Batanes Friday.
In an emergency meeting of the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Ilocos Norte Chapter Thursday, Dingras mayor Erdio Valenzuela, in his capacity as the new president of the LMP, said they would be glad to welcome the president in the province who got the most number of Ilocano votes against his political rivals during the May elections.
“Hopefully, the president will come to Ilocos Norte as he has a tentative schedule to touch down at the Laoag airport by 4p.m. today but there is no confirmation yet as of this time yet,” said Valenzuela.
The LMP Ilocos Norte Chapter has lauded the Duterte administration’s serious campaign on illegal drugs which is now slowly gaining result.
