Ilocos Norte intensifies campaign against drugs, crime

LAOAG CITY — There is no game over yet for the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office in terms of the war against drugs and crime.

Backed by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, the INPPO is reaching out to the farthest and remotest villages of the province to help the government win its fight against drugs and criminality.

Localized as “Oplan Galugad, Oplan Allokoy”, the INPPO intensifies its drive this 2017 to ensure that every village is free from drugs and other related crime.

Oplan Galugad is a double-bladed operation to assess the current state of the facility inside jail management and penology following the influx of new detainees as a result of the province’s drive against illegal drugs and to seize contraband materials.

Conducted quarterly to ensure that unauthorized items are not used inside the cell premises, Provincial Director Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. shared that INPPO is strict with its implementation in all police stations in the province.

Meanwhile, Oplan Allokoy is a police operation to convey personalities listed in the drug watch list to surrender and to avoid any untoward incident.

“The campaign against illegal drug remains to be our primary concern, considering that it is the common denominator of all crimes,” Nartatez said.

As of December 2016, Ilocos Norte managed to arrest at least one percent of the 1.08 percent drug involved personalities.

Stressing that Ilocos Norte is the only province in the Region 1 that achieved the 1 percent rate yet, the Ilocos Norte PNP will continue their Oplan Allokoy and house to house visits around the province to maintain and further increase the level of safety.

To date, only a few drug-involved personalities listed in the drug watch list have not yet surrendered.

Of the total 128,000 households in Ilocos Norte, only 48,000 households were left to be visited for inspection.

“We will make sure that those 48,000 households will be visited before this year end. ‘Pag kaya pa siguro, gagawin ulit namin yan para 200 percent sure na lahat ng kabahayan ay nabisita namin.”

Nartatez also expressed thanks to the provincial government under the administration of Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa Marcos for her all out support in this nationwide endeavor.
