Hunt on for drug escapee

ZAMBOANGA CITY — A manhunt has been launched to recapture an escapee from the correctional and rehabilitation center in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, an official said Saturday.

Subject of the manhunt operation is Rebecca Dagayloan, 38, according to Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director.

Beltran said Dagayloan escaped on Friday from the Zamboanga Del Norte Correctional and Rehabilitation Center (ZNCRC) in Barangay Don Jose Aguirre, Manukan municipality.

Beltran said Dagayloan took the opportunity to escape while the provincial government was conducting medical outreach mission at the rehab center. The activity ended at 1 p.m. Friday.

He said Dagayloan was found to have escaped as she could not be located “during the accounting of female detainees.”

“Investigation revealed that Dagayloan was able to detach the barbwire fence at the back portion of female cell building,” he said.

Dagayloan is detained for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Beltran said he ordered all police units in the region to assist the rehab center guards and Manukan police to locate and re-capture Dadayloan. Teofilo Garcia, Jr/PNA-northboundasia.com
