High- value target in illegal drug trade killed in Ilocos Sur

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – A high- value target that was included in the drug list of President Duterte was killed by unidentified assailants in Barangay Nanguneg, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur the other day.

Reports from the office of Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, regional director of Police Regional Office 1, identified the victim as Abraham Cabuena, a resident of the said village.

Cabuena just recently attended a community a drug rehabilitation program after he surrendered during the Oplan Tokhang, a campaign launched by the police to warn illegal drug traffickers and users to stop their activities, sometime last year.

Chief Inspector Marcelo Martinez, officer-in-charge of Narvacan PNP, said that aside from illegal drug, they are also looking into other possible motives of the killing.

It was learned that Cabuena was onboard his motorcycle when he was shot by unidentified men riding another motorcycle.

He suffered several gunshot wounds on his head and body and was declared dead upon arrival at a hospital. Jun Elias/NPN
