Gun used by Quiapo road rage slay suspect recovered in Nueva Vizcaya

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — Police here have recovered the gun believed used by road rage murder suspect Vhon Tanto in Quiapo, Manila.

Police Chief Inspector Jonathan Videz, Aritao town police chief said the recovery of Tanto’s gun, a Norinco High Capacity caliber .45 pistol was handed by the suspect to his brother-in-law Jonathan Leano in Barangay Kirang in Aritao town the day after the murder.

“He did not know that the gone was used in the murder. We were informed by Western Police District (Manila Police District) after Tanto’s arrest in Masbate that his brother-in-law is in possession of his gun after handing it over to him,” he said.

Videz said Leano has not returned home after turning over the gun to police. The gun was already delivered in Manila for further investigation, he said.

He said the gun’s license has been cancelled by the PNP Firearms and Explosives Division (FED) after Tanto failed to renew his permit. PNA/
