GOV. ORTEGA CONDEMNS KILLING OF CAPITOL EMPLOYEE

SAN FERNANDO CITY, LA Union–Gov. Manoling Ortega has condemned the killing of a member of his provincial family, calling it a “dastardly act” committed by people who aim to disrupt peace in his beloved province.

“I am deeply saddened by the incident and condole with the family of Jonathan Casuga. I have directed the Provincial Police Director and the San Fernando City Police to do all possible to solve the incident and apprehend the soonest the perpetrator,” Ortega said in an earlier statement.

Investigation showed that Casuga, a provincial jail guard, was aboard his service vehicle waiting for provincial employees to ferry to the provincial jail when he was shot three times from behind by his assailant.

The victim was rushed to nearby Bethany Hospital but died while undergoing treatment. The still unidentified gunman fled aboard a motorcycle along with a male companion.

In support to the governor’s call for justice for the victim, provincial employees and the Governor’s Cabinet passed the hat Tuesday to offer a P50,000.00 reward for any information for the arrest of the killer or killers of Casuga..

ABONO Party-list Congressman Pacoy Ortega also a offered P50,000.00 reward for any information that would help the authorities solve the murder.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan is set to pass a resolution of condolence to Casuga’s family including a resolution condemning the criminal act. PITO-La Union
