LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Governor Amado Espino III has confirmed that a Quatar-based multi-billion dollar company has presented a formal proposal to the province to build an Energy City Project in Sual town.
In his 100-Day Report to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) on Monday, Espino revealed that Mr. Charles Ampofo, president of Kampac, came to Pangasinan to present his company’s proposal to him and members of the provincial board.
He said the project is a petro-chemical plant and oil refinery complex capable of producing one million barrels of oil a day.
Sual is now the location of the 1,200 megawatt Sual Coal-fired Power Plant located in Barangay Pangascasan, opertated by Team Energy and another 600 megawatt plant set to be built by another company in Baquioen Bay, also in Sual.
The governor said the company will invest a multi-billion dollar capital to their project that would mean a lot for the province and its people.
In an interview shortly after delivering his report, Espino said Kampac chose Pangasinan over Bataan as location of its multi-billion dollar project because of Sual’s strategic location in the Lingayen Gulf.
The project will also involve the construction of a seaport and airport and other amenities like a world-class hospital; and a railroad system.
Espino considers Kampac as the single biggest investment in the country since a long time.
He said the project will give big positive effect to the province and its people.
Currently, he said the company is now currently completing all the necessary papers with responsible government agencies in connection with its upcoming investments in Pangasinan.
The multri-billion dollar project was already endorsed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim.
He said prior to the construction of the Energy City Project, the company will build a contractors’ village at the province’s eco-tourism zone in Lingayen.
This village will host over 2,000 families of workers from 25 different countries who will be employed in building the Energy City Project, Espino said.
He said the project will certainly bring revenues, jobs, livelihood and a lot of economic opportunities in Pangasinan. PNA-northboundasia.com
