MARIVELES, Bataan — A dismissed police officer allegedly engaged in illegal drug activities and gun running died after he resisted arrest and engaged lawmen in a shoot-out in this town Wednesday afternoon.
In a report to Police Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo, Jr., Bataan provincial director, Police Supt. Crizaldy Conde, Mariveles police chief, identified the fatality as former P03 Alpasel Hamsa of barangay Camaya in this town.
The suspect was the subject of a search warrant issued by a Regional Trial Court in Bataan for alleged violation of the comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and illegal possession of firearms.
Conde said that apprehending officers were approaching the house of Hamsa when victim drew his caliber.45 handgun and fired at the direction of the police officers but missed.
At this instance, he said police officers fired back and hit victim in different parts of the body that caused his death.
